Educate Others

Despite the severity and magnitude of human trafficking, much of the general public in the U.S. remains unaware of the problem. However, experience has shown that most people are deeply moved and motivated to action when educated about the subject. Therefore, the speed with which we rid the world of trafficking depends in part upon the speed with which the public is made aware of the problem. This can be done in several ways. You can:

  1. Distribute the address to this website: www.salvationarmyusa.org/trafficking
  2. Request a free packet of information from us by emailing your request along with your name and address to anti_sextrafficking@usn.salvationarmy.org
  3. Join a free email listserve for regular news and information related to sex trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation, and other human rights abuses (to join the list, send an email to: anti_sextrafficking@usn.salvationarmy.org)
  4. Provide this and other important information on human trafficking to your local media
  5. Arrange for experts to speak to various community groups
  6. Give presentations yourself using the Dept. of Health & Human Services presentation tool found under "Campaign Toolkits." click here
  7. Initiate informal discussions with friends, colleagues or groups (classes, meetings, religious and community groups, etc.)
  8. Distribute brochures and posters from the Rescue & Restore campaign located at www.acf.hhs.gov/trafficking
  9. For more ideas for action, see: http://www.iast.net/howtohelp.htm
